Harold Mordt

Two 1957 Chevy Nomad's

Mordt Red's 57

This 1957 Nomad was purchased in 1986 at a local car meet. It was solid red with solid black interior, had a 327 engine, turbo 400 tranny, power steering, power brakes, window washer (foot operated) with solid body.

In 1987 it was re-done back to the original class with new easy eye glass, interior, cargo area mats, bumpers from CCI, bezels, tires, rear fender inserts, 283 engine. The turbo 400 remains.

This Nomad was assembled at the St. Louis, MO plant. All Nomad bodies were built at the Cleveland, Ohio plant and sent to various other assembly plants around the country for finishing.

At the 1993 Chevrolet Nomad Association convention held at Norcross, GA this car placed third in the semi-modified class. This car was a gift to my wife Sally when completed.

Mordt Pearl 57

This 1957 Nomad was purchased in 1983 from a used car lot in Tucker, GA. The former owner was Gene Cofer. It was in really good condition with original odometer reading, original engine, power steering, power brakes and California frame, power glide tranny.

Since then (1985) it was repainted matching the original Dusk Pearl color. New replated bumpers from Lemon Grove CA through CCI. I have added vintage air several years ago.

It is a real joy to drive anywhere and a definite head turner. Oh yes, I just finished replacing the original linoleum (rubber mats) in the cargo area.

This car was assembled at the old Norwood, Ohio plant and the first owner lived in Indiana, then sold many years later to a dealer in Ohio who in turn sold it at auto auction in Atlanta to Mr Cofer who placed it on the used car lot in Tucker, GA. (Lucky me)
