Bill Soyak opened meeting at 7:30PM
First up was the Treasurer’s report - Therese Caruso reported that there is $1,715.29 in the account which includes the refund for the generator from Gary Caruso; the charge for the electrical outlet for cruise nights, which was taken care of by Glen Barnett; and this balance also reflects monies spent on the club picnic which was held in May. The DCCC paid for the permit and the hot dogs, hamburgers and stuff!
Next Mr. Soyak reported he is close to having shirts and possibly hats made up with our logo and a new design, which, hopefully, will be ready by our next meeting!
Cruise night was discussed and all agreed it was a big success! Unfortunately the DJ couldn’t make it but thanks to the efforts of Gary, Bill and Bob Demers, we were able to have music playing, plugged into our new outlet. Feedback from the crowd was very positive as far as where the music was positioned, the volume, and the content. We should have our regular DJ back next month. We were also pleased to have a visit from our newest member Ms. Rachel Homoki, only a couple of weeks old and at cruise night already!
Mr. Soyak felt that the flyers he and Gary have been handing out at all other cruise nights has really helped in getting people aware of our cruise. Bill and Gary will be going to Dawsonville to hand out flyers at their cruise night Saturday night!
A new member was introduced, Mr. Mac Macgregor, he has a 57 Chevy 210. We welcome Mac and his wife and car to our club!
A new website was discussed, Chevytalk.com, ask any question and you will get hits from all over the world.
The DCCC picnic was discussed, a good time was had by all who attended. Bob Bryant’s hat was run over (luckily his head wasn’t in it) and he is still able to wear it! Members are urged to participate in future events held by the club!
The Nashville car show will be held June 28th and 29th.
Those who went to Pigeon Forge had a good time as usual. Only one car participated it was reported there were fewer cars than usual.
Marietta auto fair went well - all participants received plaques.
Bob Bryant and Bill Brown heard from Ben and Ruth Ann (Calvary Children’s home caretakers), unfortunately due to Ben’s stroke he can no longer care for the children so him and Ruth Ann are moving to Florida, keep them in your prayers! A date for the Calvery picnic was discussed, the Bryant’s will get back to us as soon as they talk to the new caretakers!
Due to the high cost of printing our monthly newsletter only those members who have paid their due will receive one. If you have not paid please send to the Treasurer: Mrs. Therese Caruso, 158 Lakeside Drive, Kennesaw, GA 30144.
Our next meeting will be August 3rd. Our July meeting was cancelled due to it falling on the 4th of July. Cruise night will be Saturday July 6th and we are hoping for another great turnout! All members are urged to attend and participate!
The Bell’s provided the raffle - Sandy Bryant won a candy bowl and our new member Mac Macgregor won a covered extension cord. The Barnett’s will provide the gift for the raffle at the August meeting - $19.00 was collected this month.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10PM. Notes were taken by Therese Caruso, Therese has asked Bob and Judy Demers to please find another secretary by our next meeting - if interested please call Bob.
IT'S NOT EASY TO SAY GOODBYE
Some people come as employees and do what is required, and some come and become one heartbeat with you ... woven into your lives and everyday activities like the threads of a beautiful tapestry. Ben and Ruth Anne Bennett have been that "tapestry" to us at Calvary ... their hearts meshed into the lives of the children, staff, and all the many friends of this ministry.
We will miss Ben with his high energy ... bouncing all over the campus from the garden to the ball field; into one project after another ... and of course, with several "helpers" always at his side ... the little ones, each with their own individual and unique "nick name" given by Uncle Ben.
How do you say goodbye to one of the most gracious ladies ever, with a "mother's heart" of pure gold ... tender, kind and sensitive; yet with high expectations in the areas that instill responsibility, accountability and maturity.
We thank the Lord for the 15 years they have been with us. As they move to Florida and start this new chapter in their lives, we pray that they will continue to see the provisions of our Heavenly Father in a journey marked by peace, joy and gentle miracles of love.
Absent from our presence, but never from our hearts ...
Snyder Turner, Administrator
OUR LOVING THANKS
We want to say thank you, first, to our Lord for allowing us the privilege to serve Him here at Calvary with the finest staff, administrator and precious children.
Since Ben's stroke in August, '01, God has done a miracle in healing him physically, but due to continued health problems, we regretfully had to resign.
We can't describe the love and joy we've had here ... meeting such loving and giving people. You are the ones, by your support and prayers, that have made it possible for us to do our work here for almost 15 years.
May God bless you as you continue to support His wonderful ministry . Again, we are so grateful for the precious memories each of you have placed in our hearts that will last forever.
Ben and Ruth Anne Bennett
