Update on Sandy Bryant:
It is great news to hear that Sandy Bryant is in remission as indicated by
the bone marrow test results from the middle of June. Sandy has started her
follow up chemo and it will continue for the next 4 months. It was great to
see her and Bob at the Cruise night last month.
To quote from Bob:
Sandy and I are very thankful for having so many dear friends. The prayers
and the cards have been a wonderful inspiration to us both.
Thanks again my friends
Bob
PIGEON FORGE
By Alice Bell
What can I say about Pigeon Forge that you have not already heard? You
know we leave on Thursday morning, and start each trip off with breakfast at
the Cracker Barrel. You know all we do is eat and do some shopping (even
this year the guys went shopping with us on Thursday afternoon, we are
finally wearing them down). You know we go to a show on Saturday night,
which was Country Tonight, and it was very good. You know we have a
good time even if we are just sitting around talking - which can be late into
the night. But what some of you do not know is that Wally and Alice's 1956
Chevy won 1st place in the '56 Custom class and, .and, ..and...drum roll
please...People's Choice award. This was a big surprise, and such an honor.
There were about 159 1955, 1956 and 1957's up there, which was down
about 30 cars. But that is due to the fact it was threatening rain all weekend
and most of the locals stayed home. Well, their weather men were wrong,
because there was not a drop of rain on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, and
a very small shower on Friday afternoon, which lasted about 15 seconds. We
did run into some rain on the way home on Sunday. But it did not matter at
that point. Particularly for Wally!! A tornado would not have dampened his
spirits, as he was soaring high all the way home.
Also, Jon and Dee Hanson's 1956 took 2nd place in the original category. We
only had three classic cars this year, but plenty of people went. Making the
trip was Glen and Kathy Barnett, Wally and Alice Bell, Tommy and Pam
Bell, Mike and Martha Coyle, Jon and Dee Hansen, and Jon's mother, and
David, Chris, Jacob, and Rachael Homoki and Chris' parents from Florida.
Again, if you do not make this trip, you are missing out on some fun times.
The car club that puts on the show does a good job all around. This year we
hung around the cars on Friday night and enjoyed the music and games they
play. It was like a big cruise night. On Saturday we again stayed close to the
cars, ordered pizza for lunch and socialized with the other car participants.
This was a very relaxing and enjoyable trip.
Remember, the fourth weekend in September, we go to Nashville for their
classic Chevy show. I encourage all of you to take the ride with us. This is
their 25th anniversary and has lots of fun things planned. This car club also
puts on a great show - you will not want to miss it.
So, until September...
New Cruise Night Location!
The Dixie Classic Chevy Club cruise night will now be held at the K-mart on U.S. 41 across from the Big Chicken.
