MINUTES of the December 6th DCCC meeting
The December meeting was held during our Christmas party on December 7th at Cheatham Hill Community Center. It was called to order by President Bill Brown at approximately 7:30 after a wonderful supper. The club discussed the following matters and rendered the following decisions:
1) It was suggested that the club meeting location for 2004 be moved to Piccadilly’s on Cobb Parkway in Marietta, a half mile south of the Big Chicken. This was our meeting location prior to moving to Ryan’s. Advantages include a more centralized location in Marietta, and a private meeting room (with walls) which will make it easier to be heard and conduct a meeting. The proposal was voted on and approved. Our first meeting for 2004 will be at Piccadilly’s on February 5th.
2) Bill expressed his appreciation for the service provided by the club officers in 2003. Those were Bob Bryant, Vice President; David Homoki, Treasurer; Amy Higgins, Secretary; and Ed Brown, Newsletter Editor and Webmaster. A new slate of officers was proposed, and the floor was opened for nominations. A motion was made and seconded to approve the new slate as proposed. The officers for 2004 are Bill Brown, President; Bob Bryant, Vice President; George Blackshaw, Treasurer; Carol Lelak, Secretary; Jacob Peterson, Newsletter Editor; and Ed Brown, Webmaster.
3) Bill recognized Dee Hansen for coordinating this year’s Christmas party, and he and the club expressed their appreciation with a resounding round of applause. Our thanks to Dee for a job well done!
The business meeting was concluded, and members gathered for the “White Elephant Gift Exchange”!
DUES FOR 2004 ARE DUE
If you paid your dues at the Christmas party, thanks. If not, please remember to bring your check book or cash to the February meeting, or you can always mail in your dues to the club P.O. Box on the front of the newsletter. Dues are $25 per year. Your benefits include a club newsletter each month and the opportunity to share in the many club events we anticipate for the upcoming year.
Moultrie Swap Meet!
The winter Moultrie Swap Meet will be Friday through Sunday, February 6th through 8th. As usual, I have reserved some rooms for Friday night in Moultrie. We usually have a group from the club go to this event on Friday morning, spend one night, attend the swap meet Friday afternoon and Saturday, and come home Saturday afternoon. This is the largest swap meet in Georgia. It’s loads of fun. You can find just about any car part you’d ever want, and see lots of cars in the Car Corral. If you’d like a room, please call or e-mail me at (770) 993-8085 or wbrown6@bellsouth.net. Remember that we won’t have a January meeting, and the Moultrie Swap meet is the day after our February meeting. You might want to decide now so you won’t forget. Plan ahead and let me know.
Congratulations to Dan & Carol Lelak
Our congratulations and best wishes to Dan and Carol Lelak! They have a new grandson born since our Christmas party. As this is being written, Carol is spending time in South Georgia with her grandson and family.
On another note, please keep the Lelak’s in your thoughts and prayers. Their son-in-law, Tom, is facing very serious heart surgery in February. Please join me in praying for his well-being from now until the surgery, and for a successful operation.
